Reichert Ultramatic RX Master Phoroptor
The Reichert Ultramatic RX Master™ Phoropter® refracting instrument widely acknowledged as the finest available is now enhanced with illuminated dials so you can easily see the sphere, cylinder and axis scales in a darkened exam room. Far from appealing only to a handful of perfectionists, it is the instrument chosen without hesitation by the vast majority of doctors - because they know the Phoroptor instrument is the cornerstone of their refracting procedure. Hence, the best is a wise investment.

The Ultramatic RX Master, designed and constructed to provide years of reliable service, gives the professional distinctive features that measurably improve procedures- useful features like the time-saving synchronized cross cylinder that automatically rotates to the corresponding axis, and Ful-Vue™ convergence that provides the widest field of view for increased accuracy.

This is the latest in a series of Reichert refracting instruments that began with the invention of the Phoropter instrument. It incorporates refinements that represent more than 70 years of experience in working with doctors and thousands of instruments installed. It embodies the characteristics that doctors need and want most, including accuracy, speed, ease, patient comfort, and reliability.

Illuminated dials
Enhanced with illuminated dials so you can easily see the sphere, cylinder and axis scales in a darkened exam room.

Unsurpassed optical and mechanical quality provide unparalleled accuracy
The Ultramatic RX Master is the product of Reichert's unique expertise in optics and precision mechanics. Unmatched optical performance is the result of intensive research, skilled lens design, unique manufacturing capabilities, and high standards. Superb mechanical performance results from first-quality materials, superior design and workmanship, precision machining, and rigid inspection and testing. These are the reasons no other instrument approaches this one for functional smoothness, quiet operation, and sure efficiency.

Human engineered for speed, ease, and patient comfort
Reichert knows how doctors like to work, what their problems are, where they can use more help. The result of this knowledge is a refracting instrument human-engineered to simplify the procedure while maximizing accuracy.

The Ultramatic RX Master offers the most accessible operating controls of any refracting instrument. It has high contrast scales that are easy to read in dim light. It reduces the time necessary for cross cylinder axis and power checks. It simplifies near testing, add power determination, and vertex measurement.

At the same time, its simple, more efficient procedures increase patient comfort, confidence, and responsiveness. Modern styling and smooth, quiet operation indicate to the patient that he or she is benefitting from a modern, progressive practice.

Typical Reichert reliability
The Ultramatic RX Master is engineered and built to the high standards that have made Reichert refracting instruments famous for longevity during the past 70 years. Corrosion-resistant materials, precision machining, skilled workmanship, rigid inspection, "life testing", and Reichert service mean that the Ultramatic RX Master will provide dependable long-term performance.

Unique, synchronized cross cylinder saves time by simplifying a cumbersome procedure
Consider the number of cross cylinder axis settings you make during a typical refraction, and the time they cost you. The Ultramatic RX Master eliminates these settings to streamline your procedure and save valuable time. When you change cylinder axis, the cross cylinder automatically rotates to a corresponding axis. You read a single scale once at the conclusion of the test. L_atham_and_P_hillips

Ful-Vue convergence provideds the widest field of view for maximum accuracy
Completely overlapping fields during near testing mean precision measurement. With the flip of two levers, the entire optical system is converged.

Convergence combines with the large main aperture to provide the widest binocular field of view of any refracting instrument. The patient looks through the optical centers of the instrument lens system, insuring completely overlapping fields. The ultimate in clinical accuracy

More helpful features that increase accuracy, speed, and ease
Choice of minus or plus system. The cylinder axis control is concentric with the cylinder power knob. The control knob rotates a full 360 degrees and is surrounded by the axis scale. An axis reference scale at the main aperture speeds retinoscopy.

Convenient P.D. adjustment. Simply turn a knob on either side for velvet smooth adjustment. The easy-to-read scale is in 1 mm graduations.

With implementation of Ful-Vue vergence for near testing, P.D. calibration is automatically compensated.

Simplified leveling control knob. For fast, precise positioning.

Highly accurate bi-loupe turret. Two loupes mounted in a single rotating turret - in a single plane - are positioned very close to the instrument aperture. This means a shorter optical path, wider field of view, and completely overlapping fields during near testing.

Time-saving strong sphere control. Allows you to dial power changes in 3.00D steps.

Precision geared rotary prism. 1 scale graduations permit more accurate interpolation of readings to 1/2 or even smaller fractions. Precision components assure positive, smooth control over a 20 range through a convenient finger roll knob.

Convenient optical corneal aligning sights. Located on the practitioner side for effortless vertex measurement.

The most useful selection of auxiliary lenses. Ten lenses plus 2 open apertures in each battery, including Retinoscopic lens, Green or Red Lens, Vertical and Horizontal Maddox Rods, Sphere, Pin Hole, Dissociating Prisms Fixed Cross Cylinder, Occluder and polarizing analyzer.

Extensive built-in cylinder range. 0.00 through 6.00D in 0.25 steps.

Optically additive lenses. Normally, the effective power combination of two or more lenses can't be obtained accurately by simply adding their individual powers. But these specially computed lenses and lens separations mean designated powers can be simply added together to give the effective power of any combination.

Single dial sphere control. Allows you to dial any sphere lens power in 0.25D steps.

Convenient reading rod, near point card holder, and Rotochart. Full 28 in. rod to trifocal range. Smoothly gliding, rotating card holder. Unique Near Point Rotochart exposes 12 sets of test characters without changing multiple cards.

Sterilizable face shields. Can be washed, soaked in alcohol, or boiled.
